Da Nang music gala marks 50 years of Vietnam-France diplomatic ties

VOV.VN - Dozens of Vietnamese and French artists gathered together at a music gala which took place at Trung Vuong Theatre in the central city of Da Nang on June 22.

The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO) and the French Embassy in Vietnam with the aim of celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership this year.

Addressing the event, Ho Ky Minh, vice chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, highlighted cultural and education cooperation between Vietnam and France, saying roughly 7,000 Vietnamese students are studying in France while French is chosen by 40,000 students to study in Vietnam as their second foreign language after English.

In Da Nang, the past few years has seen co-operation between Vietnam and France develop significantly through people-to-people exchanges, such as cultural exchanges, meetings, art performances, conferences, and seminars.

According to the official, Da Nang city has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on co-operation with Sens city, as well as with French businesses on collaboration in tourism development and market access for products.

Sophie Maysonnave, counselor of Culture and Cooperation at the French Embassy in Vietnam, said that the music gala is one of the main cultural exchanges to connect the peoples of the two countries and to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples.

At the event Vietnamese artists from Trung Vuong Theater and winners of Da Nang Francophone singing festival in 2023 put on special performances to entertain audiences.

Talented French-Vietnamese musician and singer Dorothée Hannequin, alias The Rodeo, gave a musical performance. She is also a beloved actress, a fashion designer, and a film producer in France.
