Da Nang, Hoi An to host various events welcoming New Year
A wide variety of unique cultural and tourism activities are scheduled to take place in the central cities of Danang and Hoi An of Quang Nam province to welcome in the New Year 2017 over the coming days.

According to the Danang Department of Tourism, on the occasion of Christmas Day and New Year 2017, local people and tourists will participate in numerous cultural and entertainment events such as the Countdown Party with unique arts performances, a live video conference themed “Music Festival – Welcoming New Year 2017”, and an arts programme and fireworks show themed “Spring with Riches and Honours” on December 31; as well as a contest and parade of floats decorated with flowers themed “Danang – 20 Springs” on December 31 and January 1 2017.
On the occasion, three tourist ships will dock at Tien Sa Port including two Genting Dream liners carrying 7,000 passengers and the SS Virgo with 2,500 passengers.
On January 1 2017, the city will also officially welcome the first flight on the Singapore – Danang route launched by Silk Air Airline with a total of 180 passengers.
The number of visitors to the city on the occasion of Christmas and New Year 2017 is estimated to reach 138,287, a year-on-year 21.1%, including 75,604 foreign tourists, up 27.6% over the same period last year.
Hoi An city will hold a gala evening themed “Hoi An welcomes the New Year of 2017’ from the evening of December 31 until 1am on January 1, 2017. During the event, local people and visitors will have a chance to enjoy the exciting atmosphere of dances, songs, and colourful costumes.
On the evening of December 31, Hoi An authorities will organise a ceremony to welcome the one millionth visitor to Quang Nam province in 2016.
