Culture and Tourism Days hail Vietnam-Laos ties

Vietnam Culture and Tourism Days started at the Lao National Culture Palace in Vientiane on July 17 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Treaty.  

The launch ceremony was attended by Lao National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Pani Zathotou, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath, permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretariat, Le Hong Anh and Vietnamese ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau.

In their speeches, Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdala and his Vietnamese counterpart Hoang Tuan Anh highlighted the traditional friendship nurtured by late President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane as well as generations of leaders as a contribution to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in politics, socio-economic development and national security and defence. The time-honoured friendship has become an invaluable asset of the two nations, they stressed.

The highlights of the event include a song and dance performance given by the Viet Bac Folk MusicTheater and the Vietnam National Academy of Music, an exhibition of 30 oil paintings featuring the beauties of Hanoi Old Quarters and Vietnamese people, a seminar on Vietnam’s tourism development in Vientiane and screening of documentary films.
