The information was unveiled at an awards ceremony and exhibition held in Hanoi on December 3 by the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association in coordination with the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund.

Prof. Dr. Do Van Tru, President of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association said that the entries showcased a wide range of materials, including acrylic paintings, oil paintings, graphic prints, and many traditional materials such as lacquer, silk, dó (poonah) paper, as well as creative materials such as roasted rice and torn paper. Participants ranged in age from six to 84.

A judging panel selected 100 outstanding works for the final round, with 30 awarded top prizes totaling nearly VND1 billion (approximately US$42,000). Top prize was VND75 million, with two second prizes of VND50 million each, three third prizes of VND40 million each, 19 consolation prizes, and three youth prizes of VND10 million each.

The exhibition at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum showcased the 100 selected works, offering the public unique perspectives on Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage. The organisers said they hope the exhibition will raise awareness and pride in preserving the country’s cultural legacy.

The painting contest was first held in 2023, creating an opportunity for artists to learn and express their love for Vietnamese cultural heritages. The third and fourth contests are scheduled to take place in 2027 and 2029 towards the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1930-2030).
