Craft fair to be held in Hanoi this weekend

The Hanoi Indie Troupe will organize a craft fair called “Ra Tay” (From The Palm of Our Hands) at De.Tam Café in the capital city on June 8 and 9 with an aim to honor the art of craft-making and the bond between old traditions and new values.

The craft fair gathers young artisans who are dedicated to making a career with their crafts, embracing high standards in product quality and expressing their own individuality in the products.

The participating vendors and speakers are young creators and makers coming from various points of achievement in their own creative journey. Some of them are newcomers while others have achieved success, each with a story of their own.

In Vietnamese, “Ra Tay” carries a variety of meanings such as making an action with a sense of urgency, showing off what one is capable of, leaving a strong impression, or establishing a statement with a burning determination and no intention of delay or restrain.

The fair also features talk shows and workshops in which the vendors will share their knowledge on craft-making and other creative ventures. Some of the events are monoprint workshop with Liulo Arts & Craft, zine workshop with HINO Art Materials and XuAn Studio, and talk shows on “A Story of Pigments” with Vu Do or “Wooden crafts” with Lucid Dream.

The Hanoi Indie Troupe is a group of local artists, creators, music lovers, and culinary experts who desire to show true colors, explore the joy in work, and support indie community.
