Comic festival celebrates Vietnam-Japan ties

(VOV) -A festival based on popular Vietnamese and Japanese comic books is taking place in downtown Hanoi on July 27-28 as part of activities to mark the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

Titled Comic Books and My Childhood, the festival was held at the Children's Culture Palace, 36 Ly Thai To Street to showcase complete collections of comic books from the two nations published since 1990s. Cartoons inspired by the comic characters were also screened.

Vietnamese painter Nguyen Thanh Phong, who is well known for illustrations, met comic book lovers among various folk games and dances such as yosakoi and flashmob.

Participants had a chance to feast on food from both Japan and Vietnam.

On this occasion, the final round of a cosplay contest, titled Earth Heroes, was held for young people to disguise themselves as characters from manga and comic books.
