VOV.VN - A cultural event titled “Colours of Vietnam” is taking place in Manila, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Philippines (1976–2026), while promoting Vietnam’s culture, arts, and tourism.
Organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines, the opening ceremony on March 25 was attended by former Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Delia Domingo Albert, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Spokesperson Angelica C. Escalona, DFA Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs Marshall Louis Alferez, along with officials, diplomats, businesses, media representatives and students.
The event showcases photographic works by artists from the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, highlighting the country’s cultural identity, urban transformation, and economic development. It also features Áo dài (traditional Vietnamese long dress), alongside culinary specialties such as Vietnamese coffee, spring rolls, and traditional cakes.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh emphasised that such activities help promote Vietnam’s cultural image and deepen mutual understanding. He noted that cultural and people-to-people exchanges play an important role in strengthening bilateral ties and opening new avenues for cooperation.
Participants expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s blend of tradition and modernity, with many describing the country as an increasingly attractive destination for Filipino travelers.
