“Colors of Friendship” exhibition brings together Vietnamese and Korean artists
VOV.VN - The “Colors of Friendship” exhibition opened on January 12 at the Fine Arts Exhibition House in Hanoi, presenting 69 paintings and sculptures by artists from Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK)
The event, jointly organised by the UNESCO Fine Arts Centre of Hanoi and the Korea International Art Exchange Association, highlights the role of art as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
Through painting and sculpture, artists from both countries share their perspectives on life and the world, as well as their appreciation of nature, people and everyday life.
Vietnamese artists contribute around 50 works reflecting the diversity of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts, using materials such as lacquer, oil, silk and acrylic.
Notable pieces include Thiên thanh (Azure Sky), Miến sơn cước (Mountain Highlands)), Cô gái Thái (Thai Girl), Xuân trên bản (Spring in the Village), Mùa thu trắng (White Autumn) and Mùa đông ấm áp (Warm Winter). The works depict the beauty of Vietnam’s landscapes and people while demonstrating ongoing experimentation and renewal in artistic thinking.
The Korean section features nearly 20 works by Park Yeon Hee, Lee Hyang Jae, Jeong Huyn Ja and Yoo Young Kwae, created with a range of materials including watercolour, gouache, acrylic and mixed media. While each piece carries a strong personal imprint, the collection maintains overall harmony. Works such as Tân hôn (Newlyweds), Chiến thắng (Victory), Gia đình đi chơi 1-3 (Family Outing 1-3) and Kiến thức và sự sống (Knowledge and Life) show a modern visual approach with well-structured composition and subtle tonal treatment, while retaining the Eastern artistic spirit that values harmony between humans and nature.
Speaking at the opening, Phan Thi Thanh Mai, Director of the UNESCO Fine Arts Centre of Hanoi, said that art is a universal language that transcends national, cultural and linguistic boundaries. She noted that the exhibition stands as a vivid example of cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
The side-by-side presentation of works by artists from both countries creates a multi-layered artistic space, combining diversity in visual language with shared sensibilities in emotion, aesthetics and creative spirit, offering audiences a rich visual experience. The exhibition also provides an opportunity for artists to deepen professional exchange, share creative experience and bolster bilateral cooperation in fine arts.
The “Colors of Friendship” exhibition runs through January 18 at the Fine Arts Exhibition House, 16 Ngo Quyen street, Hanoi.
