Cities nationwide ready for New Year’s Eve celebrations
VOV.VN - Big cities across three Vietnamese regions are poised to hold fireworks shows, countdown parties, and a number of cultural and entertainment events to celebrate New Year 2021.
Hanoi will put on a high-altitude firework display, starting at midnight on Dec. 31 and running until 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2021, in three areas at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hoan Kiem district, Thong Nhat park in Hai Ba Trung district, and the My Dinh Stadium in Nam Tu Liem district.
In addition to fireworks, the capital will also be organising a Countdown Party at the August Revolution Square on Trang Tien Street between 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 0:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2021.
Elsewhere, the central city of Da Nang is set to host a wide range of unique cultural and tourism events which are due to take place to celebrate New Year’s Eve and the start of 2021.
The Da Nang New Year Festival 2021 will be held at Asian Park on Phan Dang Luu street in Hai Chau district between Dec. 30 and Jan. 3, 2021. The event is anticipated to boost local tourism after undergoing a long period of being greatly affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Most notably, local authorities are putting on activities such as a cyclo parade, boat tours on the Han River with 3,000 free tickets, a street festival, a noodle festival, alongside music galas.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s most densely populated and largest economic hub, will celebrate the New Year with firework displays, a 3D lighting show, and a musical countdown.
A firework display lasting for 15 minutes will start at midnight at Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2, Landmark 81 and Central Park in Binh Thanh district, and the Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11.
Furthermore, a countdown concert will take place on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in the evening, with the show set to feature the involvement of famous singers from across the nation.
The night of Dec. 31 and the early morning of the first New Year day will see both locals and tourists enjoy a lighting show which will utilise 3D mapping techniques at the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City's People’s Committee in District 1.
Other localities are also planning a series of activities aimed at welcoming the start of 2021, including countdown parties in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Thua Thien-Hue, a food festival in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and a music gala which will take place on Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang province.
