“Charming Vietnam” beauty pageant launched

Vietnamese girls will have a chance to show off their beauty, intelligence and talent at the “Charming Vietnam” pageant which begins this month.

The contest was launched at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 15 by the Vietnam Youth Federation and Vietnam Students’ Association Central Committees.

According to the organizing board, candidates must be unmarried students at the age of between 18 and 24, and with the height of at least 1.6 metres.

They will be judged on their talents in culture, arts, painting, music, dance, cuisine, sewing and martial arts.

The qualifying round will take place in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen city in the northern province of the same name, the central city of Da Nang, Buon Me Thuot city in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak, Nha Trang city in the central province of Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The semi-finals will be held in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and the final round also in Ho Chi Minh City.

The final night during which awards will be granted is scheduled for November 17 in this city.

The winner will receive a cash prize of VND200 million, while the two runners-up will get VND100 million and VND50 million, respectively.

The three will join a programme to visit Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in 2014.
Candidates can summit their dossiers from July 20 until August 28 at Thanh Giong Intellectual Gate, 64 Ba Trieu, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
