Cambodian Culture Week in Vietnam opens
Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts kicked off the Cambodian Culture Week in Vietnam 2025 in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on June 10.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu provincial People’s Committee Ngo Vu Thang noted that the event is of special significance as it helps to further consolidate, strengthen, and develop the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries – a relationship built and nurtured by King Norodom Sihanouk, generations of Vietnamese leaders, and the peoples of both countries.
Introducing his province, Thang said Bac Lieu is home to many ethnic groups, with Khmer people numbering more than 78,000 or 7.6% of the local population. Over the past years, Khmer people have enjoyed better material and spiritual lives while their culture has shown strong vitality, been preserved, and also embraced by many people of other ethnic groups.
He expressed his hope that the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the country's Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to create conditions for the province to promote the culture and image of Bac Lieu people to Cambodian provinces in the coming time.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts Lundi Sannara said that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighbours sharing historical similarities as well as long-standing solidarity and friendship. The traditional friendship has been built and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, and is now developing sustainably in all fields.
Emphasising that the Cambodian Culture Week in Vietnam 2025 is an important part of the countries' cultural and artistic cooperation plan for the 2023-2027 period, the Cambodian official said activities taking place during the week will give Vietnamese people better understanding about Cambodia and its people, helping to strengthen solidarity between the two peoples and bring bilateral cooperation to a new height.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong noted that this year's Cambodian Culture Week takes place in Bac Lieu and Vinh Long provinces to introduce to the Vietnamese people the unique culture of Cambodia, enabling residents in the countries' border areas to engage in exchanges.
After the opening ceremony, performances by Cambodian artists gave the audience a glance at the country's traditional culture.
On June 11 morning, the Cambodian troupe will visit some tourist attractions in Bac Lieu province and then travel to Vinh Long province.
