Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2027 aims for global reach

The festival is set to run from December 15, 2026, to April 4, 2027, with major activities centered in March and early April 2027, aiming to attract 1.3 million visitors.

A new highlight of this edition is linking coffee promotion directly with value chain development, from raw material supply zones to processing and consumption. Key events including Vietnam Specialty Coffee Week, Coffee Industry Innovation Space, Farmers’ Contest, the international conference "Buon Ma Thuot-Robusta Capital of the World," and deep-processing investment promotion are expected to boost the value of coffee.

The festival footprint will also expand to connect destinations from Buon Ma Thuot, Buon Don, Lak Lake, and Ea Kao Lake to Tuy Hoa, combining culture, sports, gastronomy, and coastal tourism. The draft plan proposes a roadshow titled "From Highlands to Blue Sea" alongside a free coffee week in eastern areas to strengthen tourism ties.

Notably, Dak Lak plans to establish lasting products to serve residents and tourists beyond the festival, including Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Street, two check-in complexes at March 10 Square and Phu Yen Square, and the "Longhouse Show" at the Dak Lak Museum. Among these, the "Longhouse Show" is designed to operate year-round.

According to Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this edition focuses on leveraging communication to bring the Buon Ma Thuot coffee image closer to international audiences. In addition to press channels and digital platforms, the department proposes partnering with Vietnam Airlines to promote the festival on domestic and international flights.

"Our core objective this year is to step up communication and elevate the festival to an international level. The department proposes working with Hunitech Center under Vietnam Airlines to promote the festival across flight routes," Tien says.

Do Huu Huy, Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, emphasizes that developing tourism and services is a long-term strategy. The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival must go beyond promotion to serve as a driver of growth, increasing agricultural value and the province's tourism standing.

He asks the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with business associations and enterprises to build a specific list of activities with clearly assigned responsibilities, urging the department to finalize the project for submission to relevant authorities for approval within October 2026.

On brand positioning, Huy agreed to retain the official title "Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival," while requesting promotional messages to highlight the competitive advantage of local Robusta coffee.
