Bookworms gather for Autumn Book Festival

| The opening ceremony was held at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi this morning by the Department of Publishing, Printing, and Issuing under the Ministry of Information and Communications. |

| Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said the Autumn Book Festival is a practical activity that contributes to building an educated society and developing an advanced culture imbued with national identity. |

| It also creates a golden opportunity for publishers to introduce their books to Vietnamese readers, he added. |

| During the festival, a number of exchange programmes will be held, along with various educational and entertainment activities to encourage the reading movements and introduce hi-tech applications in information and communications technology. |

| This year, the event has drawn 55 publishers and distributors with more than 65 booths introducing a wide range of new books. |

| It is hoped that the event will strengthen the local reading culture and become a link between publishing houses and Vietnamese readers. |
