Book festival to be held in downtown HCMC

A book festival will be held on three streets in downtown HCM City from February 2-8 as a cultural event for the public during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Under the theme “Books and young generations”, books displayed on Mac Thi Buoi Street are mainly about education, science, technology, economics and culture.

The book event on Nguyen Hue Street under the theme “Rise up” will feature books about the establishment and development of the city, photo books about soldiers protecting the country’s sea and islands, as well as spring magazines and newspapers.

Specially designed for children, the book fair on Ngo Duc Ke Street, themed “Children and the future city”, introduces a wide range of children’s books. There will also be a playground where children can play STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and folk games.

Tu Luong, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Information and Communications, said the book festival is an annual event that aims to promote reading and the image of the city to domestic and international tourists.

The event is held by the HCM City Department of Information and Communications in coordination with leading publishing houses such as Phuong Nam, Thai Ha Book and Fahasa.
