Bobby Chinn named Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to EU
(VOV) -Internationally renowned television presenter, chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Bobby Chinn has been appointed Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to the EU for the term July 2014 to July 2017.
Chin’s ascension to the position was announced on July 17 at a press conference in Northern Ireland held jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) and the Vietnam Embassy to the UK.
MoCST Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan expressed his optimism that Chin’s appointment will contribute significantly to uplifting tourism development in line with the Vietnam-EU strategic partnership established in 2010.
Even though he isn't a Vietnamese national, he has lived in Vietnam for over 20 years and was nominated as the ambassador of Tourism for Vietnam by the MoCST, Tuan said.
Chinn is currently the proprietor of high-end restaurants in both Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City and it has often been said that what Bobby doesn't know about Southeast Asian food isn't worth knowing.
In 1996 he launched his career as celebrity chef and MC of Discovery and Travel and Living and author of many books on Asian cuisine. He has carried out many activities introducing Vietnam’s cuisine and tourism throughout the world.
”Vietnam is a friendly and attractive destination for foreign tourists, and I am confident that the new Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to EU Bobby Chinn will fulfill his task successfully,” Tuan said.
