Best dances honoured at second International Dance Festival held in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The best dance performances put on by Vietnamese and international artists won five gold medals at the closing ceremony of the 2024 International Dance Festival held in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on August 21 after four days of competition.

Three gold medals went to local dancers from the Military University of Culture and Arts, the Vietnam Academy of Dance, and the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.

Dancers from Laos and Indonesia took home two other gold medals.

At the awards ceremony, the organising board also presented 10 silver medals to winners of other outstanding dance performances.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong confirmed that the festival helped to provide a venue for dance artists to show off their talents and learn from each other, while simultaneously introducing their cultural values to international friends.

The August 17-21 festival brought together nearly 500 artists and performers from 17 troupes representing Laos, the Philippines, China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

This is the second time Vietnam has hosted the festival, following the 2017 event.
