Bac Ninh ready to host 2027 Vietnam Film Festival
VOV.VN - The administration of Bac Ninh has announced a plan to prepare for hosting the 25th Vietnam Film Festival slated for November 2027, marking the first time the locality will organise the national-level film event.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Bac Ninh Culture and Exhibition Centre on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street. The venue will serve as the central hub for many activities during the festival.
In addition, film screenings will be held at the centre and several cinemas, including Lotte Cinema and Beta Cinema, to meet the technical and infrastructure requirements of the national film festival.
The event holds special significance as it coincides with the 57th anniversary of the Vietnam Film Festival (1970–2027). It is expected to further promote the value of cinema to the public while creating a platform for exchange and connection among artists, filmmakers, businesses and audiences.
The festival will also provide opportunities for filmmakers to expand their markets and strengthen international integration. Meanwhile, Bac Ninh will have an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic locality rich in cultural identity.
To prepare for the event, Bac Ninh plans to organise a wide range of cultural activities from 2026 to 2027, including film weeks, themed screenings, workshops, seminars and audience interaction programmes. These activities will take place at the Bac Ninh Culture and Exhibition Centre and various cinemas across the province.
Notably, Bac Ninh plans to produce a 30-minute documentary on the province’s culture, history and people to be submitted to the 25th Vietnam Film Festival. The film is expected to highlight the distinctive cultural identity of the Kinh Bac region and help promote the locality through the language of cinema.
Besides film producers, directors, and screenwriters will be invited to Bac Ninh to learn about local culture and support policies for film production. This is seen as a step towards gradually building Bac Ninh into an attractive destination for film projects.
