Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair will be greater than ever: Governor
Governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Mr. Sujin Chaichumsuk presided over a press conference on the organizing of the Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair 2017.
He said that the 26th Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair will be held from 15 to 24 December 2017, in the Ayutthaya Historical Park compound.
Aiming to celebrate the historical significance of the ancient Thai capital with celebrations and displays of traditional culture and lifestyles, the 10-day fair will feature cultural performances and entertainment. Specifically, the "Ayutthaya’s Got Talent” contest and "Miss Ayutthaya Beauty Contest” will be held for the first time. The event is organized in conjunction with Ayutthaya province’s annual Red Cross Fair, with a bazaar of community products.
There will be an official opening ceremony on 15 December. Visitors are encouraged to dress up in traditional Thai costumes during this 10-day event, and a costume rental service will also be available at the fair. Another highlight of this year’s celebration is a nightly light and sound presentation, depicting the glorious past of Ayutthaya.
"The 26th Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair will be greater than ever, because participation in this year’s event has skyrocketed,” said Ayutthaya governor.
"Boosting tourism to strengthen our local economy and build our provincial profile as a premier destination is also the main focus,” he concluded.
