Australia’s duo Agostino to perform in Hanoi
(VOV) - Renowned Australian guitarists Janet and Raffaele Agostino of “Duo Agostino” will give a special concert at Voice of Vietnam Theatre in Hanoi on September 26.
The event is part of activities organized by the Embassy of Australia in Vietnam to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties.
The Australian artists will perform songs in their album “Under the Southern Skies” and a Vietnamese piece called “Đi cấy” (Transplanting).
Raffaele and Janet share a great passion for developing the guitar into an orchestral instrument. They have actively engaged in teaching at the Sydney Guitar Summer School for 18 years.
Together with fellow guitarist and composer Richard Charlton they formed the “Sydney Guitar Trio” which has performed in many places across Australia, following its successful tours of Argentina, UK and Italy in 2001, the Trio has released a new CD called “One Hour To Madness and Joy”, consisting of Australian compositions written especially for the band.
Raffaele and Janet’s regular performance at the Darwin International Guitar Festival has aspired them to try new pieces written for guitar and other instruments.
In July 2006 the Duo Agostino appeared as invited guests at the Winchester Guitar Festival and whilst in the UK they recorded their CD “Under the Same Sky”. Both Raffaele and Janet have been awarded Life membership by the Classical Guitar Society, Sydney, for their significant contributions.
