Athletes prepared for regional student sports festival
(VOV) -As many as 76 Vietnamese athletes, coaches, and referees are fully prepared for the 17th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival which is scheduled to take place in Palembang, Indonesia from December 9 to 21.
A seeing-off ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 7.
The Vietnamese students will compete in six disciplines, namely athletics, pencak silat, swimming, table-tennis, karatedo, and chess.
A series of activities including cultural exchange, experience sharing, and country tour will be held within the framework of the event to help the participating students get better understanding of Indonesia and its people.
Director of the Ministry of Education and Training’s Student Affairs Department Ngu Duy Anh who heads the Vietnamese team, said this is a good chance for Vietnamese students to share experience with their regional friends and improve their performances.
The festival also aims to develop physical and sports education in schools, and improve students’ fitness.
