ASEAN Women Circle explores Indonesian musical instrument in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The ASEAN Women Circle in Hanoi (AWCH) recently took part in a tea party and experienced playing the Angklung, an Indonesian musical instrument in an event hosted by Kristien Abdi, the spouse of the Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam.

Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, spouse of the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined other members of the AWCH at the event.

In her opening remarks, Abdi said through the tea party, ASEAN friends would be able to gain a greater understanding of Indonesian culture and people, contributing to deepening the solidarity and friendship that exists among ASEAN countries.

At the event, AWCH members were introduced to the Indonesian musical instrument Angklung, an instrument which was recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010. The instrument consists of two to four bamboo tubes suspended in a bamboo frame, bound with rattan cords.

This was the AWCH’s first activity in 2023 to introduce the culture and cuisine of different ASEAN member states to each other.
