ASEAN graphic arts competition and exhibition 2024 launched

VOV.VN - The Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the ASEAN graphic arts competition and exhibition 2024 in Hanoi on May 31.

Ma The Anh, head of the department, said the event is held every four years with the aim of promoting cultural exchanges and international cooperation in the field of fine arts, whilst simultaneously tightening the friendship that exists among ASEAN member countries.

It will provide a playground for regional artists to showcase their talents, share experience and new techniques in creating artwork, and introduce their pieces on the people and land of each country, noted Anh.

According to the official, citizens of 10 ASEAN countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, are eligible to take part in the event.

All the artworks are required to be created between 2020 and 2024, encompassing woodcut, metal engraving, gypsum engraving, rubber engraving, on-stone print, unique print, and other forms of graphic art.

The themes of the entries should focus on various aspects of life, humans, natural landscapes, peace, solidarity, cooperation, and friendship, as well as contemporary issues.

The organisation board will select approximately 200 graphic artworks for the exhibition due to take place in Hanoi or Hai Phong this December.

The ASEAN graphic arts competition and exhibition was first held in 2012, and this year marks the fourth edition of the event.
