The American-Vietnamese official, who works for the British sports marketing firm Strata in Vietnam, said AS Roma and Strata representatives signed an agreement in England last December under which a match between the Italian FC and Vietnam would be held at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium on June 2.
“Roma plan to play matches in China and Indonesia before flying to Hanoi during the tour,” Mae Mua told Vietnam News Agency.
“It will be the first time that AS Roma have played in Vietnam and we hope to generate some excitement among fans.”
The Italian club will bring stars including Francesco Totti, Deniel De Rossi, Bosnian Miralem Pjianic, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Erik Manuel Lamela.
She said Strata has been co-operating with the Vietnam Football Federation to organise the match.
In 1996, another Italian FC Juventus featuring Gianluca Vialli and Attilio Lombardo outperformed Vietnam 2-1 at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium.
