Art performance marks ASEAN’s founding anniversary
(VOV) - An art programme was held in Hanoi on August 8 to celebrate the 46th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and 18 years since Vietnam joined the regional grouping.
The program features traditional songs and dances of member states, highlighting their unique cultural identities.
The annual event aimed to promote the building of a strong and united ASEAN Community and gave Vietnam and other member countries a chance to promote exchanges and connectivity and reinforce solidarity among regional people.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO), Vu Thi Hai expressed her wish that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between ASEAN countries will grow and flourish.
ASEAN member states need to reach unanimity on lifting regional cooperation and connectivity to new levels, contributing to the establishment of the ASEAN Community by 2015 on the three pillars of security, economics and culture, Hai said.
The program was jointly organized by the HUFO, the embassies of ASEAN member countries in Hanoi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
