Held in a solemn atmosphere infused with Vietnamese cultural identity, the event brought Vietnamese culture to life in the heart of Europe through 19 performances and cultural activities, including Ao Dai showcases, musical performances, art exhibitions and interactive cultural spaces.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, Chairwoman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Women’s Association in the Czech Republic, highlighted the special role of the Ao dai, the traditional Vietnamese dress, in the spiritual life of overseas Vietnamese communities.
She said Vietnamese people, wherever they live, continue to preserve their cultural identity through the ao dai, traditional dances and songs. According to Lien, the Ao Dai is not only a symbol of pride, elegance and the charm of Vietnamese women, but also carries cultural stories that help connect communities and introduce Vietnamese values to international audiences.
For the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, she said, the Ao Dai also serves as a cultural bond that recalls people’s roots and national traditions while living abroad.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the Vietnamese Women’s Association in the Czech Republic to preserve and honor Vietnamese cultural identity.
He said the “Hương sắc Áo dài Việt Nam 2026” program inspired the community, promoted a spirit of patriotism and national pride, and encouraged younger generations to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural values.
