Ao Dai bustles American streets
Vietnamese girls in Ao Dai (traditional long dress) have paraded through the streets of California during the second Ao Dai Festival being held at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.
Jenny Do, producer of the event, said the festival aims to honour the beauty of Vietnam’s Ao Dai and introduced Vietnam’s people and culture to international friends.
“I love Vietnam’s culture and people,” said one of the American volunteers, Martha O’Connell. She said that her Ao Dai was a gift from a Vietnamese student.
After the opening ceremony, the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts hosts various painting exhibitions. An auction of Vietnamese tourism products is also taking place as part of the event.
