American duo The Chainsmokers to take city stage in mid-September

Renowned American DJ and producer duo Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, better known as The Chainsmokers, will perform in HCM City on September 14 as part of their “Memories...Do not open” world tour, according to information on the website www.thechainsmokers.com.

The New York-based duo started their performance tour on April 13 in the US to promote their latest debut album “Memories...Do not open” released in early April this year to thousands of young people and music enthusiasts around the world.

Apart from Vietnam, the 28-year-old Andrew Taggart and the 32-year-old Alex Pall are expected to travel to other Asian countries such as Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, Singapore and the Philippines.

Founded in 2012, the Chainsmokers have quickly gained fame in the world of electronic dance music (EDM) after their song #Selfie debuted in 2014.

The  song “Don’t let me down” released in 2016 marked a big turning point in their music career, helping the duo win the first-ever Grammy Award for the Best Dance Recording category.

Organized by Pulse Active, a HCM City-based professional organizer of renowned sport events such as HCM City Marathon, Le Fruit Off-Road Triathlon and Color Me Run, the event will take place at Sala residential area in HCM City’s District 2.

Tickets to their forthcoming show are now on sale at https://ticketbox.vn, with prices ranging from VND750,000 (US$33) and VND1.6 million (US$70).

Over the past years, Vietnamese music-lovers have traveled to neighboring countries like Thailand and Singapore to meet international music stars as Vietnam is often not on the map of global tours by music stars.

But Vietnam has emerged as a destination of international artists on their world tours.

In particular, the 23-year-old US pop star Ariana Grande who was on the list of 100 most influential people in the world will take the stage at the Military Zone 7 Stadium in HCM City’s Tan Binh District this Wednesday as part of her “Dangerous Woman” world tour.

Especially, Korean guitar prodigy Sung-ha Jung will make a comeback to Vietnam for a concert in Hanoi on August 26 and another in HCM City the next day.

Meanwhile, Shane Filan, former lead-vocal of Ireland’s famous boy band Westlife, has recently performed for the second time in HCM City as part of his “Love Always Tour” to Asia.

Earlier, young singer songwriter Joyce Jonathan brought her outstanding performances to the city stage in June on the occasion of her tour to Asian countries.
