“AI for Life” helps everyday users navigate generative AI

VOV.VN - As artificial intelligence (AI) tools continue to evolve rapidly, “AI for Life” by Celia Quillian offers a practical look at how generative AI can be applied in everyday life.

Quillian is an AI and marketing strategy specialist based in Atlanta and the founder of the @SmartWorkAI channel on TikTok and Instagram, which has attracted hundreds of thousands of followers.

The book aims to help everyday users approach generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Perplexity AI in an accessible way, rather than through heavily academic explanations or large-scale corporate technology strategies.

According to the author, AI is gradually becoming part of daily life in much the same way the Internet once did, but users need to understand how to effectively prompt these tools.

The book is divided into two main sections. The first introduces the foundations of generative AI, explaining how large language models work along with their strengths, limitations and major platforms currently available.

The second turns to real-world applications, offering hundreds of examples and sample prompts for tasks ranging from travel planning and recipe searches to personal finance management, job applications, language learning and document processing.

One of the book’s central themes is how to write effective prompts. Quillian argues that the quality of AI-generated responses depends heavily on how clearly and specifically users communicate their requests.

She says an effective prompt should include clear context, a defined action and a specific objective. The book also introduces more advanced techniques such as “prompt layering,” which involves breaking complex requests into multiple steps to help AI systems handle them more effectively.

Alongside the benefits of AI, Quillian also addresses the technology’s limitations and risks, including misinformation, bias and potential data privacy concerns. She encourages readers to treat AI as a tool to improve efficiency and reduce repetitive tasks, rather than relying on it completely.
