A record 108 kylins perform in HCMC

Ho Chi Minh City residents on December 28 enjoyed a Guinness-record dance of up to 108 kylins at the second Kylin-Dragon Dance Festival at Van Lang Park in District 5.

The 108-kylin dance at 9:00 a.m. on December 28 set a Vietnam Guinness record. The well-prepared performance was aimed at introducing the prominence of lion-dragon-unicorn dance art in the city, as well as throughout the country.
The 108 kylins perform in Vietnam flag-shaped arrangement. Twenty-five professional troupes from Districts 2, 5 and 8 in the city and neighboring provinces, including Dong Nai, Long An and Vung Tau, took part in the festival this year, which is expected to conclude on December 30, while scheduling more than 30 performances.
The Kylin-Dragon Dance Festival is one of the city’s tourism marketing events.
The participating troupes will also showcase a booth of kylin heads and other items used in kylin and dragon dances, and three booths displaying martial arts medicines used in the treatment of common diseases.
