9th Wallonie-Bruxelles Film Week to return to Vietnam with seven films
VOV.VN - The 9th Wallonia-Brussels Film Week in Vietnam will come back to Vietnam this October to present a selection of films from the Francophone community in Belgium.
The event, to be organised by the Wallonia-Brussels Delegation in Vietnam and to take place in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue from October 23 to 28, aims to encourage cultural exchange and explore diverse perspectives on life through cinema.
The programme features seven works spanning social drama, comedy, arthouse cinema and animation. Their stories explore familiar yet complex themes, including family relationships, friendship, the desire for freedom, the challenges of growing up and the effort to overcome past trauma.
Among the highlights is Cap Farewell, directed by Vanja d’Alcantara, which follows a young woman seeking to repair family relationships and confront painful experiences from her past. It is paired with Les Baronnes, a warm-hearted comedy about friendship, solidarity and older women pursuing their dreams.
Other selections approach personal and social issues from different angles. On vous croit examines child custody and child protection through an emotionally engaging story, while Nino dans la nuit explores the struggles, aspirations and coming-of-age experiences of young people.
For younger audiences and families, La Princesse et le rossignol brings together three poetic animated short films conveying messages about freedom, courage and love for nature.
In Hanoi, the films will be screened from October 23 to 26 at the National Cinema Centre, 87 Lang Ha Street. In Ho Chi Minh City, audiences can enjoy the films at DCiné Ben Thanh, 6 Mac Dinh Chi Street, from October 25 to 28. In Hue, screenings will be held on October 27 and 28 at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, 39 Nguyen Hue Street.
The films will be presented in their original languages with both Vietnamese and English subtitles. Admission is free.
