30 first contestants enter Miss Ethnic finale
(VOV) - After the Hanoi semifinal’s swimsuit and national costume sections on May 20, the northern region’s best 30 contestants have advanced to the final round of the third Miss Ethnic Vietnam pageant.
Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, crowned Miss Thai Nguyen 2011, was a late 31st addition to the final round, scheduled for June 11–27 in Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City.
The final round will be contested by 50 competitors selected from the two regions’ semi-finals.
It will serve as the finale for the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival broadcast live on the national and local television channels.
Earlier, qualifying rounds took place in Ho Chi Minh City from May 11–12 and narrowed the field down to 127 contestants from 27 ethnic groups.
The northern region was represented by 51 contestants from 15 ethnic groups, while the southern region contributed 67 contestants from 11 ethnic groups.
CIAT Company launched the 2013 pageant in in March. It received 1,000 profiles submitted by contestant hopefuls from 35 ethnic groups nationwide.
