16 best national tennis players compete in Vietravel Cup 2012
(VOV) - Ho Chi Minh City opened the 2012 national open tennis tournament—the Vietravel Cup 2012—on December 15.
The event gathered the 16 highest nationally ranked athletes, including eightmale and eight female players.
The competition’s women’s division consists of Huynh Phuong Dai Trang, Nguyen Ai Ngoc Van, Tran Lam Anh, Si Boi Ngoc, Tran Thi Tam Hao, Huynh Phi Khanh (HCM City), Phan Thi Thanh Binh, and Do Anh Thi (Danang).
Young talents Nguyen Hoang Thien and Ly Hoang Nam were unable to compete due to international tournament obligations.
After the opening ceremony, in the male division’s group A, Do Minh Quan (HCM City) defeated Bui Thai Luan (HCM City) 6-2, 6-4 in the first match of the day.
Quoc Khanh (HCM City) overcame Tran Thanh Hoang (the Army) 6-2, 4-6, and 6-4.
In group B, Ho Huynh Dan Mach (Binh Duong) beat Nguyen Thanh Dong (Binh Duong) 6-2. Pham Minh Tuan triumphed over Tran Hoang Anh Khoa 6-4, 6-3.
The female division’s Ngoc Van (HCM City) lost to Dai Trang (the same city) 0-6, 2-6.
Do Dan Thi (Danang) won her match against Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh (Danang) 7-6.
