14 Jrai ethnic artists to attend Korean international music festival

VOV.VN - A 14-member Jrai ethnic delegation is set to represent the nation by taking part in the Jeonju International Sori Festival 2023 which is scheduled to open on September 15 in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

The delegation consists of the youngest artist Rcơm Bus, 21, of Pleiku city and the oldest artist Ksor Sep, 66, of La Grai district.

They will put on seven performances at the festival, with these shows featuring musical instruments such as Gong, the k'ni, ting ning, and t'rung, among others. 

This will mark the first time that the musical instruments, as well as the various folk melodies of Vietnamese ethnic people, will be introduced on Korean stage.

Jeonju International Sori Festival was first held back in 2001, offering visitors a chance to enjoy various traditional Korean music as well as music from all over the world.

The 22nd edition of the festival will kick off on September 15 and run for 10 days in Sori Arts Center of Jeollabuk-do and Jeonju hanok village.

This year the event will draw the participation of 14 delegations from 11 countries worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Canada, Poland, and China.

The keywords of this year's Sori Festival are 'Mutual Growth and Recovery' to promote hopes of harmony between traditional and world music, along with the recovery of traditional Korean music and performances.
