Party leader requests renewing youth work to meet new requirements
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam has asked the Vietnam Youth Federation to renew youth work in the new context to maximize the role of young people in the era of national advancement.
Addressing the ninth National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation in Hanoi on December 18, To Lam praised young people for their active engagement in various youth movements, recording remarkable results.
The movements such as Vietnamese Youth Study and Follow Uncle Ho’s Teachings, Youth Join Hands to Build New Rural Areas, Youth Participate in Building Urban Civilization, Youth Start Businesses, and Youth Defend the Nation have attracted tens of millions of young participants, fostering their creativity, responsibility, and patriotism, and making a practical contribution to national development and defense, he said.
Highlighting the important role of the youth, the Party leader said the Party has yet to issue another resolution on youth work in the new context since the 2008 resolution on strengthening the Party’s leadership for youth work in the process of national industrialization and modernization. He emphasized the need to unify perceptions about the youth’s role and the exceptional importance of youth work in the new revolutionary phase of the Party and the nation.
In the face of rapid global changes such as globalization, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, climate change, and international integration, youth work must be reformed to drive Vietnam forward in the era of national advancement, he said.
The General Secretary proposed that relevant Party agencies in collaboration with the Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation promptly make recommendations to the Politburo to issue a resolution on youth work in the new era.
This resolution would clearly define goals, targets, tasks, and strategic solutions to mobilize the strength of youth, alongside the entire Party, people, and armed forces, in realizing the nation’s aspiration to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s leading powers, he said.
According to the Party chief, the youth must spearhead revolutionary movements in line with the Party’s strategic priorities, including efforts to combat wastefulness, promote digital transformation, fight environmental pollution, and reorganize the political system to become leaner, stronger, and more effective and efficient.
He stressed the need to strongly innovate political and ideological education for young people, ensuring in-depth and widespread access to diverse youth groups; intensify learning and practicing Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style, instilling a sense of responsibility, ethics, and dedication among youth; and mobilize the youth in implementing strategic initiatives such as digital transformation, waste prevention, and pollution control.
These initiatives not only empower young people but also place them at the forefront of Vietnam’s socio-economic transformation. By fostering creativity, accountability, and a sense of ownership, the youth will become a decisive force in realizing the nation’s vision for sustainable growth and global competitiveness, he noted.
On this occasion, the General Secretary called on all Party committees, authorities, organizations, localities, and the entire society to consistently support, guide, and facilitate the effective operation of the Vietnam Youth Federation.
He emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for federation members and Vietnamese youth to confidently engage in carrying out significant political tasks of the nation as well as those of localities and organizations.
