Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has regarded the presence of foreign police forces at the ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Public Security as not just a symbol of friendship and cooperation but also a fine gesture of their countries’ solidarity with the Vietnamese.

He attributed the Vietnamese police force’s strength and development to the results of cooperation and support they received from international friends while receiving the foreign delegates in Hanoi on August 17.

The PM spoke of effective efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent and struggle against transnational crime, terrorism, high-tech crime and drug trafficking in recent years. The efforts contributed to maintaining security and order in each country as well as peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole.

PM Dung informed the head delegates about the results of the 43rd ASEAN ministerial meeting and related meetings in Vietnam last month during which ASEAN and its dialogue countries discussed a broad range of issues and reached a high degree of consensus, affirming their common aspirations for peace, stability and cooperation.

The PM also expressed his wish that other countries would regularly exchange delegations to share experiences and help each other in personnel training, and to promote the signing of multilateral and bilateral cooperation documents that would create a legal pathway for long-lasting cooperation in the fight against crime.
