Government leaders welcome International delegations

(VOV) -Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on April 30 received senior delegations of Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba on a visit to Vietnam to attend ceremonies marking the 40th anniversary of total southern liberation and national reunification in Ho Chi Minh City.

The delegations are led by Laos’ Vice President Buonhang Volachit, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) and Head of its International Relations Department, Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera.

PM Dung attributed Vietnam’s April 30th victory to the support of communist countries including the Soviet Union, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, and international friends. 

Dung and his guests agreed on more efforts to foster the fine traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba, for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Laos Vice President Bounnhang Volachit expressed his profound gratitude towards the Vietnamese Party, State, army and people for their huge, sincere and efficient assistance to the Lao people, both then and now.

Cambodian Deputy PM Men Som An extended her thanks for Vietnam’s help in defeating the genocidal Khmer Rouge, freeing the Cambodian people and helping the country become what it is today. 

The Cuban official described the special solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam as an invaluable asset that needs to be preserved and passed onto the next generations. 

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also hosted a reception in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30 for international guests who attended a grand ceremony celebrating the 40th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day. 

The guests include more than 100 individuals and representatives from international organisations from 40 nations and territories across the world. 

Deputy PM Phuc acknowledged their contribution to the Vietnam’s historic victory as well as in its nation building and protection process.

The guests shared the views on the 1975 triumph, saying that it was not only significant to Vietnamese people but also to peace-lovers around the world. 

They also lauded the positive achievements Vietnam has recorded over the past four decades.
