Governments of Vietnam and Indonesia have for many years cooperated in many fields, including education.

Professor Hoang Van Viet made the statement at a seminar on education, research and translation cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, which was jointly held by HCM City University of Science and Humanities and HCM City Research and Translation Association, on January 14.  

The event attracted scientists from the universities in the city. 

After ten years of educational cooperation, there are 111 Masters of Art (MA) graduates and 60 current students at the Faculty of Indonesian Studies at HCM City University of Science and Humanities and the University of Hong Bang.  

Centres for Southeast Asian studies were established at several universities in the city. 

Dr.Phan Thi Hong Xuan from HCM City Open University said Vietnam, and other countries in the region, considers Indonesia an important partner in many fields, and universities in particular have promoted research on Indonesia’s culture. 

Bambang Tarsanto, Indonesian Consul General in HCM City stressed that scientists in both countries should further cooperate in human resource and information exchanges, as well as culture and language research. 

Headmaster of HCM City University of Science and Humanities, Professor Vo Van Sen, said his university will continue to develop Indonesian studies, and strengthen the future research and seminar activities with Indonesian partners.
