National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has asked Hanoi voters to be more focused on the operations of the NA and make constructive proposals on its renewal.

The chairman, speaking at a meeting with voters from the capital city’s districts of Ba Dinh and Cau Giay on October 14, underlined the importance of regular contact with voters to listen to their opinions and petitions, in order to make the NA operate more effectively.

The chairman emphasized the continual renewal process the NA is undergoing, the increasing development of the country’s legal and legislative framework.

He agreed with some voters that it needed to promote the popularisation and education of law to the electorate, in order to raise public awareness of law enforcement, and improve the quality and ability of NA deputies in making decisions of national importance. Chairman Trong also reaffirmed the role and effectiveness of the parliamentary foreign affairs channel and the need to promote the external affairs activities of the NA and its offices.

In reference to social, cultural and educational issues, the chairman confirmed that they were also top of the Party’s and Government’s agenda to develop and effectively carry out social policies, ensuring equality in the development.

Many voters praised the NA’s efforts to renew its operations and wished that the NA would ensure the exercise of democracy, criticism and thorough supervision to prevent corruption, while ensuring the trust of the people.
