HCM City businesses in need of higher recruitment

VOV.VN - Businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, the southern economic hub of Vietnam need to recruit roughly 26,000 workers in March, according to the municipal Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (FALMI).

Of the total, those holding university and college degrees account for 30 % those trained in vocational schools (35%) and manual workers (35%).

FALMI Deputy Director Tran Anh Tuan said recruitment is focused on such fields as information technology (IT), electromechanics, architecture-construction engineering, industrial electricity, garments-leather shoes, tourism-restaurant-hotel, economics-finance, import-export and medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Job seekers rose 20% from February, Tuan said, noting that growing demands from businesses would provide more opportunities for university and college graduates to get steady jobs.

The centre’s survey showed labour shortage stood 3-4% after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday while post-Tet recruitment demand remained high to ensure smooth business operations.
