In his speech, Vo Van Thuong vowed to work closely with other members of the newly elected HCYU Central Committee and bring resolutions adopted at the congress to life. He pledged to renew the youth union’s activities to meet the requirements for national development in the context of national industrialisation and modernisation as well as international economic integration.
He called on each youth union member to devise a specific plan of action and strive to fulfill it.
The congress adopted key programmes over the next five years till 2012. By 2012 the Youth Union will have 7.5 million members, about one million outstanding members will be introduced to the Communist Party of Vietnam, and two million jobs more will be created for young people.
The delegates also raised VND500 million to support needy children across the country.
