OVs in Bokeo look forward to homeland

(VOV) - Around 400 Vietnamese are residing in Bokeo province, Laos.

Ninh Keomanicon, head of the Mobilising Board of the Vietnamese Association in Bokeo province, revealed the figure at a working session with Ambassador to Laos, Nguyen Manh Hung on May 21.

Ninh said that most of them are small traders, hairdressers and builders. With significant assistance from local authorities and the Vietnamese Consulate in Luang Prabang, their living conditions are increasingly stable.

They all look forward to the homeland and are actively taking part in sports and cultural performances to mark major events of the two countries, she added.

Ambassador Hung spoke highly of their close solidarity and expressed his hope that they will continue to live in harmony and work well in Laos within the law.

He affirmed that the embassy will ask the consulate in Luang Prabang to help Vietnamese residents stabilise their lives, and contribute to building a strong Vietnamese community in Laos.
