The Vietnam-Finland Friendship Association was established in Hanoi on August 15 with the presence of Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Tran Dac Loi, representatives from the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs and Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kari Alanko.

As its action plan set for the first tenure, the Vietnam-Finland Friendship Association will contribute to strengthening the mutual understanding between the two countries and will help their enterprises seek partners in such fields as economics, trade, investment, oil and gas, agro-forestry, the environment, education, culture, and athletics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Loi expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Finland Friendship Association will yield good results to further contribute to the cause of people-to-people diplomacy in general, and future friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Finland in particular.

The association elected a 12-member executive board chaired by Tran Duc Cuong, vice president of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
