Nam advances to second round at Roland Garros
(VOV) - Ly Hoang Nam, paired with Russian Bobrov Bogdan, began a bid for the boy’s doubles title with a win over France’s Mateo Martineau and Alexandre Muller on June 1 at Roland Garros.
They came out in the first match and skunked their opponents 6-0 and clinched a berth to the next round with a 6-3 victory in the second match.
Nam and his partner next face off with Germany’s Tim Sandkaulen and Hungarian Mate Valkusz.
Earlier on May 30, Nam also advanced to the second round of the boys’ singles, after shutting out French player Maxime Mora 2-0.
His next opponent will be American Nathan Ponwith, who is coming off a valiant triumph over Germany’s Louis Wessels 3-1 (3-6, 7-5 and 6-2).
Ly Hoang Nam is currently ranked 12th in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) latest junior rankings.
