The Prime Minister has agreed to earmark VND160 billion (US$10 million) to help disaster-hit provinces rebuild their infrastructure.

A government dispatch dated November 22 said that the sum will be sourced from the budget of a World Bank-financed project on controlling natural disasters.

Under the PM’s decision, the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Quang Binh will respectively receive VND42 billion, VND39 billion, VND30 billion and VND22 billion, while northern Ninh Binh province will get VND27 billion.

The budget will come into effect from now till 2008.
