A senior Party official has praised Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Party Committee for making breakthroughs in its leadership and implementation of political tasks in the previous tenure, elevating the radio’s role and position in the region.

At a VOV Party Committee Congress in Hanoi on August 17, Hoang Xuan Cu, a Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the Party Committee of centrally-run organisations, noted that VOV has carried out its plan of action, deserving to be a key and reliable media agency of the Party and State.

He said the VOV Party Committee has created a strong and united collective, promoted ideological work among its officials and staff, especially Party members, and responded well to the campaign “Studying and Following late President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Examples”.

Over the next five years, Mr Cu said VOV should pay more attention to increasing the leadership capacity of its Party cells and improving its operational efficiency to cater to its listeners’ tastes.

In his report, Dao Duy Hua, VOV Deputy General Director and Deputy Secretary of the VOV Party Committee, reviewed major developments of the national radio in the past five years, saying VOV has made enormous strides in performing tasks entrusted to it by the Party and State.

He said VOV inaugurated its radio broadcasting centre at its headquarters, 58 Quan Su street, Hanoi, and restructured channels to improve its operation. It established a TV channel (VOVTV) and a traffic information channel (VOV Traffic) in Hanoi and HCM City, which have received a warm response from listeners and viewers.

VOV has also kick-started an East Sea broadcasting programme to serve off-shore fishermen and help safeguard national sovereignty and territories.
