The German government will provide EUR1.4 million to help people in the Mekong Delta region recover from the heavy flooding in September, announced the German embassy in Hanoi on November 28.

The embassy said EUR0.4 million will be used for emergency aid projects being implemented jointly by the Red Cross Societies from both countries. They focus on delivery food, restoring flooded farm land, supplying crop seeds and rebuilding key infrastructure facilities.

The remaining money will be provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to a number of cooperative development projects with the Vietnamese Government, many of which are in the Mekong Delta region.
