The Capital City of Hanoi has decided to hold a festival on January 13 to mark the count-down to the millennium anniversary, which is 1,000 days left.

The single-day event entitled "A Moment of Thang Long-Dong Do-Hanoi" has a tight schedule dominated by a Hanoi-Millennium logo designing contest and launch of a "For the future generations" museum designing contest.

Activities will include traditional festivals, rituals, performances by folk dragon dancing troups and traditional parades around the history-rich Hoan Kiem (Sword Return) Lake, with the participation of thousands of people.

Streets around Hoan Kiem Lake will be lined up with open exhibitions displaying 180 large-sized images taken from archives, including pictures and paintings by French authors.

There will be a fashion show of old designs dating back to early 1990s.

Traditional food markets, craft villages, folk games and folk song performances will relive Hanoi residents’ daily lives in the previous century.
