The film, titled “Agent Orange: A Personal requiem,” was produced by Japanese director Sakata Massako with Bill Megalos in 2007.
Following the screening of the film in its original English, with French subtitles, a series of discussions on the topic will be held.
Several film critics believe that the film will win at least one award at the festival.
The film covers the impact of AO on human health, sanitation, and the environment in Vietnam following the end of the Vietnam War. All things highlighted in the film are a result of director Massako’s field investigations.
Her husband, Greg Davis, died in 2003, at the age of 54, from liver cancer which is believed to be the result of his exposure to AO during the Vietnam War.
Some 87 films from 37 countries will be screened at the festival.
