Fostering Vietnam-India friendship

(VOV) - A ceremony was held in New Delhi on January 9 to mark the conclusion of the Vietnam-India Friendship Year 2012.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, and his Indian counterpart Sanjay Singh attended the function.

The two sides highlighted the practical activities and significant events that were launched during 2012 to celebrate their bilateral ties.

Attendees rejoiced in the outcomes of the programme, which has lead to increased mutual understanding and promoted bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science and technology, culture, and education and training.

Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam and India are emerging economies with great opportunities for cooperation. He expressed his belief in ongoing fruitful relations between the two countries in the future.

Indian diplomat Sanjay Singh was pleased at the successful organisation of the Vietnam-India Friendship Year 2012, saying that the two countries have advanced the development of their traditional friendship and cooperation over the past four decades.

These positive results, he said, will create a firm foundation for further cooperation to the benefit of their peoples, as well as for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
