The Vietnamese embassy in Iran on August 29 celebrated the 61st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

At the function, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran, Nguyen Van Hy, spoke of the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Iran in recent years and thanked the Iranian agencies, mass media and businesses for their contributions to boosting and expanding the two countries' cooperation, helping double the two sides' annual trade value since 2003.

Representatives of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the Iran Union of Friendship Associations with other Countries, the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association and Iranian news and press agencies took part in celebrations of Vietnam's National Day. They praised the achievements of the Vietnamese people in national development and wished the Vietnamese government and people further success in the future.

Mr. Latifi, Vice President of the Iran Union of Friendship Associations with other Countries, reviewed the two countries' 33-year old diplomatic ties. He said that Iran and
Vietnam have had a friendly and warm relationship between Iran and Vietnam has been tested during changes in the international situation. The successful relationship is testimony to the independent policies of the two countries.
Mr. Sajjadi, President of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association said that his Association is always ready to serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia organised a ceremony to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day (September 2).
The ceremony was attended by Indonesian senior officials, foreign ambassadors and charge d'affaires to Indonesia, representatives from international organisations and a number of Vietnamese nationals living in Indonesia.
Ambassador Nguyen Hoang An recalled the August Revolution in Vietnam and the struggle for national independence and reunification. He emphasised the major socio-economic achievements made by Vietnam over the past 61 years, particularly during the process of renewal, and results of the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Ambassador then expressed his thanks to the government and people of Indonesia and other countries for their assistance to Vietnam in recent years.
The Embassy received congratulatory messages and flowers from former Indonesian President, Megawati Soekarnoputri, as well as various government officials and representatives from Indonesian businesses.
